When we suffer in this lifetime we need to keep a few things in perspective.
Romans 8:28 – We are confidant that God is able to orchestrate everything to work toward something good and beautiful when we love Him and accept His invitation to live according to His plan.”
God works all things together for our good. All things. Even the worst thing. We need to keep that in focus. And if we’re unable to see that. If we’re struggling with our difficulties.
“God, we’re about to lose our house.”
“God, I don’t think I can go on any longer.”
“God, how am I going to afford Bethel?”
“God, I’m tired of this.”
If we’re so focused on our struggles, we can’t possibly see or even imagine the good that can come out of all of this.
When we moved to the Western Cape, my family had to sell our home in Pretoria. I grew up there, and it was an amazing place. Then when we came here, well we couldn’t afford to buy a place. So, we rented. Then that place went on the market and we had to move. So, we start renting another house. For a good while, we live there, until the rent goes up and we have to move again. This time we find a house to rent that’s a good price. We stay there for a long time then my grandmother comes to live with us. So, here’s the problem. We don’t have enough bedrooms. There aren’t any houses to rent. And all in all, it’s a big problem.
So, we’re on the outlook for a house with an attatched flat. And we find one. But the price is pretty high. So, we apply for a home loan right. Half will be paid by us. And we’ll get a loan for the other half. So, now we’re praying. We need this place. We need this home loan so bad. All the banks decline us because my parents are self employed. My dad approaches S.A Home Loans, and we’re waiting and waiting and it looks positive.
Then they say no.
We ask them to reconsider. And they do. The answer is still no.
I was scared to say the least. Without a loan we can’t get a place to stay. And if we can’t get approval for a loan, the future seems even more uncertain than it already was. I didn’t know how God was going to turn this around. Cause when you’re stuck in a situation, it sometimes feels like you’re stuck in a maze. And you lose all perspective. But God works all things together for our good. We eventually did buy a house CASH! because God knows what’s waiting in the future. Exactly a month after we bought the house, our previous business went belly up due to circumstances out of our control. If we had bought the other house with a bond outstanding, we would have SERIOUS trouble! But still every thing worked out good.
We need to keep this in perspective. The sufferings of this present time, are not worthy to be compared with the glory we shall see. As difficult as it gets, we have the promise that God will always take care of us. And the worst horrors aren’t worthy to be compared to how wonderful God can orchestrate this whole thing. Not worthy to be compared.
Because He works ALL things together for our good.
